Thinking Can Make a Difference

There is a saying “This world is a sea of suffering.” Everyone will experience difficulty or suffering. We may experience the loss of a job, a business failure, failure in stock investment due to an unexpected drop in stock market, fire, flood, divorce, the loss of a loved one, etc. How we deal with that difficult experience determines its impact in our lives. It is not what happens to us that are important. It is how we react to what happens to us that makes the difference! Does that mean we can actually alter our life by the way we “think” about it? Yes, we can.

The next likely question, then is, “I suppose you would be happy, confident, cheerful, positive and enthusiastic if your spouse had just walked out on you?” If your spouse had just walked out on you, you should reflect on yourself what went wrong and correct it and you will had a chance to reconcile with your spouse. But if you go around complaining and criticizing your former spouse, telling everyone how unfair, inconsiderate, no-good, and difficult that person was, do you think they would want to marry you? If you criticize and complain loud and long enough, they will soon understand why your spouse left you!

Do you think a prospective new employer would want to hire you if you are critical, condemning and remorseful about your ex-boss? Or about how thoughtless, unappreciative and unfair they had been to you?

All of us regret the loss of a loved one, young or old, and there will always be a reasonable period of mourning. However, to hang on to, and dwell on the hurtful feeling and painful memory for an extended length of time will begin to take drain you physically, mentally and emotionally. You should reflect lovingly upon the positive impact that person had upon your life, review the good times you shared together and celebrate their life, instead of dwelling upon their departure! Life is uncertain, no one is here eternally. Show your love, appreciation and feeling for those whom you still have in your life. Enjoy and treasure the time with them now.

Our life, our health and our behavior becomes what we THINK. Thoughts are real things that cause actions that develop into habits that make us happy or sad, relaxed or tense, healthy or sick, rich or poor. Life is for living not just for enduring, not for just tolerating, but to be lived, happily and enjoyed. Change your negative thought to positive thought and live your life because thinking can make a difference.

Attraction Accelerator will help you to improve your thinking. Listen to it and it will give you a serene feeling and it can improve your brain power.

Never Too Late

A foreign language school started its new term of basic Japanese course. On registration day, an elderly lady came forward. ‘Registering for your child?’ the girl at the counter asked with a smile. ‘No, it’s for myself.’

The lady explained, ‘My daughter-in-law is Japanese. I don’t know Japanese so I can’t understand what my son and daughter-in-law say to each other. I hope to communicate with them better. That’s why I’ve decided to take up this course.’

‘How old are you, madam?’ asked the girl. ‘Sixty-eight,’ she answered. ‘You probably need to learn for 2 years before you can understand what they are saying in Japanese. But you will turn seventy 2 years later!’ The girl told her bluntly. The old lady smiled and replied, ‘Miss, do you think I will turn sixty-eight 2 years later if I don’t take up the course at all?’

Things always go on this way. We think that we are starting too late so we give it up totally. But it is always never too late to get started. We will be a year older next year whether we are walking or lying down all the time. When next year comes, every one will have a year added to his or her age. However at that time, some may have made some achievement whereas some are still empty-handed. This difference lies in whether you make the move to start at all.

The elderly lady would still turn seventy years old two years later, whether or not she took up the foreign language course. But the difference would be, she would be happily joining in the conversation between her son and her daughter-in-law or she would still be sitting aside like a statue not able to join in the conversation.

‘Once get started, there is hope for success. Without a start, there will forever be zero chance of success.’

Attraction Accelerator can help to improve your brain power that will spped up your journey to your success.

A Strange Advertisement

A company advertised in the newspaper for a sales position. Details of the prerequisite, salary and benefits were given. It was also clearly stated that applicants needed to take an aptitude test and an interview. However looking at the whole advertisement, one could not locate any contact information of the company.

Most interested applicants thought that it was negligence on the side of the company’s HR department or a printing error. They therefore waited patiently for the newspaper to publish an amendment. There were another 3 applicants who also found the position matching their interest. But instead of waiting for the newspaper to publish the company details in another day’s advertisement, they took the initiative to find out the company’s contact information themselves.

‘A’ did a search in the internet. By typing the company’s name, he easily obtained all the information including its contact about the company. ‘B’ called up the local telephone number search service and found out the company’s office number. He called up the office and got the required contact information. ‘C’ put in a greater effort in his search. He remembered seeing a poster by the same company in the city so he drove all the way down and made a few rounds to search for it. He finally found it together with the company’s contact.

Three days after that advertisement was published in the newspaper, most interested applicants were still waiting eagerly for an amendment printed in that day’s newspaper. On the other hand, the application letters and resume of ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’ had already reached the hands of the company’s HR manager. They were then called up for an interview. During the interview, all went well and immediately they were hired. The 3 of them were a little surprised at how fast things went on. They were expecting to sit for an aptitude test as stated in the newspaper advertisement. The HR director answered them, smiling, ‘Our test is hidden in the advertisement itself. To be a good sales personnel in this age, he or she has to be broad-minded and very importantly, not following rigid steps or rules. Three of you are clever and agile. In a short time, you’ve managed to find ways of contacting us. It shows clearly that you have passed the test with flying colors!

‘The fools sit around waiting for their chances whereas the wise actively take actions with great initiative’.

Are you Wealthy?

One young man was always unhappy and complained about his poverty. One day, he went to see a fortune teller to enquire how to become wealthy.

The fortune teller said:” Young man, you are already wealthy now.”

“Where is my wealth?” the young man asked anxiously.

“It is with you. Your eyes are your wealth. You use them to see this world. You use them to see all the beautiful things in this world. You can read study and learn. You hands are your wealth. You can use them to work. You can use them to hug your love ones. Your legs are your wealth. You can run very fast. Go to any places that you want to go. You brain is your wealth………” the fortune teller said.

“You call this wealth? Everyone have them.” The young man said.

“These are wealth, Young man. What you have now is definitely not what others can luckily have? For example, are you willing to give your eyes to me? I am willing to give you a lot of money to exchange for them.” The fortune teller said.

“No, are you nuts? I am not going to exchange my eyes for money! They are precious to me!” The young man yelled.

“Precisely, it is wealth to you. You will not exchange them for money. Furthermore, although a lot of people have this wealth, they do not realize them or treasure them. They are not grateful to Heaven for giving them these wealth, they even complained that Heaven is unfair to them. Do you want to loose one of them before you will treasure them?” the fortune teller said.

Everyone is wealthy. But do not take them for granted. We need to treasure our wealth, take care of them and use them wisely. Do not over strain them because once they are gone. They are gone forever. Remember they are our wealth that we do not want to lose.

Lose Your Dream, Lose Your Life!

In New York City, a young cop by the name of Joseph was shot in the left eye and right knee during an arrest operation. 3 months later, he was discharged from the hospital and he is a totally different person.

Once a macho, high-spirited handsome young chap, he now was blind and lame. The New York City’s government and other organizations awarded him lots of medals for what he had done. During an interview, a reporter asked him: “How are you going to face such a great change in your life now?” “The criminal is still on the loose and I want to arrest him with my own hands!” He answered with fury in the eye that escaped the shot.

From then onwards, despite dissuasion from all levels, he participated in all arrest operations for that criminal. He had almost gone all over America. Once he even flew to Europe for a minor clue.

9 years later, the criminal was finally caught somewhere in a small country in Asia. Joseph, of course, played a key role in the arrest. He became a hero again. Everybody called him the toughest and bravest man in USA. Not long after, Joseph cut his wrist and died in his own apartment. He left a message that read like this: “All these years, arresting the criminal was my only reason for living. Now that he who has injured me has been brought to justice, my hatred is gone. And so is my reason for living. I have never felt so despair over my handicap.”

Losing a healthy eye or leg is a great distress. But losing your aim or meaning in life after that would mean losing everything. And that is truly tragic. Please do not lose your dream or aim or meaning in life because you need them to keep you alive.

Wait till Your Dream Come True?

An English teacher called Brody was tidying up his old stuff at the attic when he came across a stack of old scripts. They were the ‘English composition’ of a class of children he taught 50 years ago. The title was ‘In future, I will be…….’

Brody read a few of them. The children had dreams of all kinds and he was very much enchanted by them. For example, one wrote about becoming a Navy Captain, another wrote about becoming a President of France. There were even a Circus Ring Master, Princess, etc. There was one written by a boy called David whom he remembered was blind. David believed that he would become an important ministerial officer in England in the future. Then Brody had an idea. He wanted to return these scripts to their owners, as much as he could do it. A year later, through some effort, the scripts were all claimed and none became who he wanted to be 50 years ago. One book was left unclaimed and it belonged to the blind boy David.

Just when Brody decided to donate to a museum, he received a letter from Mr. Brunkert, an important figure in the Prime Minister office. He wrote in the letter, ‘That ‘David’ is me. Thank you for helping us keeps our childhood dreams. But I don’t need that book anymore because from that moment onwards, my dream has been in my head all the time. I have never given up before. 50 years have passed and I can say that I have realized that dream.’

Everyone has great dream before while small. But some time during the days of growing up, they were changed, stolen or given insufficient nourishment resulting in not able to sprout. They remain deep in the soil. Have you hidden your dream somewhere? Or has it been changed or stolen? Find you dream back today, and believe that it will come true! Perhaps on the way of finding it back, you might come across ‘dream-stealers’. They can be your friends, parents or even your spouse. While you are happily sharing with them about your dream, they return with words like ‘difficult’, ‘impossible’, ‘be realistic’, ‘wait till…..’ etc. Well, don’t be frightened off by them. Let them say what they want. As long as you are down-to-earth, continue holding your dream tight, for they cannot steal your dream away this time!

The Law of Attraction - Walt Disney’s perseverance

One Christmas, two young men successfully established their business in USA and gave their workers US$1 million as a Christmas present. The news created such a stir around the globe. Everyone was amazed. It’s hard to believe that an employer like that existed. However behind this real story was another one on how the two young men went through hardships and difficulties in establishing their business in USA. They started with US$4000 and only had enough to begin in a small garage.

Many great careers in the world usually have difficult starts like the two young men. Take Walt Disney for example. His became so well-known today around the world. Ask any child in any country and it’s difficult to come across one who doesn’t know ‘Disney’. Behind Walt Disney’s success lies another touching story. He once told a group of bankers about his dream of building a millionaire business based on Mickey Mouse, fairy tales and Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs. He asked them, ‘Are you willing to help me?’ He was laughed at and asked to leave.

Walt Disney’s first career ended up bankrupt but he did not give up. He kept working on his ‘Joyful World’. Once, he was chased by a bank for a 4.5 million loan. But he kept calm still and even said this to his people, ‘Remember we couldn’t even borrow US$1000 in the past? It’s not a bad thing that we can now owe the bank US$4.5 million.’

Walt Disney started up with nothing. He only had his name which had now transformed into a huge business. He was such a success in cartoon creation and writing. It all owe to his perseverance from the beginning to the end.

All businesses need finances. All businesses need perseverance throughout. But most important of all, you need to have an ambition, a target; the interest and the belief of making it come true – the Law of Attraction!

Opportunity is Ordinary! See it! Seize it!

Once, someone visited a renowned sculptor’s art gallery. There stood many sculptures which amongst all stood one whose face was entirely hidden behind its hair. There was a pair of wings on its 2 legs. He asked the sculptor what that was. He answered: “It is Opportunity.” The visitor asked, “Why is the face all hidden behind the hair?” He answered: “That’s because people usually do not know it is it when it arrives.” He asked again: “Why wings on its legs?” The sculptor answered: “That is because it moves fast. Once he escapes, nobody can get him back.”

Remember, great people are great only because they were able to make use of opportunities that were passed off as ‘too ordinary’ by ordinary people. When we put a solid into a pail full of water, some water will start overflowing. Archimedes, the great physicist, was able to come up with an important principle out of such a natural phenomenon to other people. The volume of solids of all kinds of irregularity can be calculated from the volume of the water that has overflowed! Since creation, whose eyes had not seen lightning and whose ears had not heard thunder? But it was Franklin who saw something out of it and came up with ‘electricity’.

Such is true not only of scientists but also of engineers, artists, writers, businessmen, etc. Someone ever said, ‘No matter who you are, opportunity would come visit you at least once in your lifetime. However, if it ‘sees’ that you are not prepared to receive it, it will come in from the door and very quickly leave through the window’. People who are good at making opportunities made use of a little of it here and a little of it there. These accumulate to something great. We need not end up becoming great scientist like Archimedes and Franklin but when opportunities strike, hold tight and make good use of them! Remember Opportunity is Ordinary! See it! Seize it!

You Decide How You Live!

When we are doing something we like, we hardly feel tired. Many people feel this way. For example, if you go fishing for a day, sitting by the lake for 10 hours, you won’t feel tired at all. Why? That is because fishing is your interest. You draw pleasure and joy from fishing. The main reason for people getting tired is due to the fact that they are getting tired of life, getting wearied of a particular job. Such emotional tiredness can be more energy-draining than the physical strength consumed.

Psychologists ever did this experiment. They divide equally 18 students into 2 groups. They made one group students worked in jobs that matched their areas of interest whereas the other group of students worked in jobs that were not their areas of interest. Not long after, the group that was working in jobs that were not their areas of interest started to make gestures. A while later, some started complaining about headaches and backaches. On the other hand, the other group of students were still full of energy at work.

The above experiment tells us that people feel tired usually not due to the work itself but due to the job’s monotony, anxiety caused and frustration that people find in it. All these kill their vitality and energy to do the job. ‘How can I draw pleasure from my work?’ an entrepreneur asked. ‘I have just lost $150K in a business deal. I’m doomed. I have no cheek to face anybody now.’ Losing $150K is indeed a fact but saying ‘I am doomed, I have no cheek to face anybody now’ is from his own thought and feeling.

A British once quoted, ‘Human being feel uneasy NOT due to what has happened but due to the thoughts they put to what has happened.’ In other word, the interest you will receive from an activity is a personal emotional experience and has nothing to do with that activity. A manager might be complaining about his office being too small and dull whereas a garbage collector completes his job everyday without complaint. Happy or unhappy is not determined by the external environment. Our internal attitude is the determining factor. Be it a job or a negative situation you are facing, what is going on or has happened cannot be changed. But you can change the way you feel about it. Get over with it happily or continue to curse and swear? You decide how you live!

Jump higher

The Biology researcher had ever done an interesting experiment. They put some fleas in a glass cup and observed the fleas. The fleas easily jumped out of it. The experiment was repeated several times and gave the same result. Fleas were found to be able to jump up to a height of 100 times its own height according to previous tests. They are thus the animal world’s champion in high jump. Next the researcher put the fleas into the glass cup again but this time, a glass cover was placed immediately over the top of the cup. This time the fleas bumped hard on the cover as they jumped up. After many bumps, the fleas grew cleverer. They adjusted their jumping height according to the height of where the glass cover was at the top. After some time, they no longer bumped on the glass cover but were able to jump freely in the cup under the cover.

The researcher next lightly removed the glass cover and observed again. The fleas were found to be still jumping at the adjusted height. The researcher then placed an alcohol lamp under the glass cup and lighted it up. The base of the glass cup got hotter and all the fleas started to show the natural instinct to escape from the life-threatening situation. They all managed to jump out of the glass cup in response to that.

The fleas stopped jumping higher not because they had lost their jumping ability. It was because the numerous setbacks and rebuff they faced created a psychological obstacle in them to become lost about themselves and forgotten that they are expert in jumping. The glass cover had veiled the fleas’ sub-conscience. Their desire and capability in taking actions were killed. But when their lives were threatened, they quickly put aside all negative feelings and managed to jump out.

We human beings are smarter species but when faced with negative situations, we sometimes respond in the same way as the fleas. Are anyone out there experiencing blows and setbacks and never dare to try again? Wherever you are now, whether you are swaying about due to setbacks or you are working hard for success, be absolutely calm in your heart and mind when faced with all kinds of circumstances. Don’t be blinded. Don’t lost heart and keep believing firmly in your ability and gift. Press on! You will succeed!
